Hi, I am Ashley, a freelance website and digital designer.
I was raised in Ipoh, Malaysia, and now residing in Brisbane/Gold Coast, Australia.
Due to my upbringing in a multi-cultural society, I have learned to accept, appreciate and celebrate diversity.
The T-Shaped Designer
Over the past few years emerging myself in design, I discovered that although I generalise in different areas, user interface design is always the area I find most interesting and would love to specialise.
The passion to produce impactful designs that comply with standards, meet usability and accessibility requirements push me to adopt a human-centred approach with empathy.
My work involves creating design strategies to tackle complex challenges. I look forward for more opportunities to work collaboratively with different parties to establish a UX-centred design process.
More about Ashley
Life prior to Design
As a teacher turned designer, I had the opportunity to learn about human psychology and behavioural science. It helped me to become empathetic towards people’s needs and sparked my interests in uncovering user intentions and ways to improve their user experiences.
In the past years working with young children and teenagers, their curiosity and creative minds often intrigue and inspire me to think outside the box.
It challenges me to develop effective communication skills including storytelling and scaffolding instructions while explaining difficult concepts. As a team player working with diverse group of people, I am ready to take on more challenges in my design journey.
